The name of Roero area comes from the homonymous family who dominated these lands for centuries, starting from the Middle Agese. Roero is located on the left hydrographical side of Tanaro river. Beyond the river, on its right hydrographical side, the Langhe territory starts. The latter is characterized by a plain upwarding soil along parallel ridges, while Roero is strongly characterized by its pretty demanding and savage territory. Roero hills are worth being seen from above, from one of the viewpoints atop local villages, which cling on marl cliffs, surrounded by fortresses and ramps embracing wonderful ancient perched piazzas.
