Bar Pitti, is a bustling Italian cafe that draws a stylish youthful crowd .With outdoor seating that is remarkably pleasant on the roomy sidewalks of the Avenue of the Americas just north of Houston Street, and seemingly always packed. This is the place to be on warm evenings, with dozens of people hanging around out front, drinking glasses of wine as they wait on a bench or lean against a car. The food is classical Italian with menu items including: sauteed spinach, spinach-and-ricotta ravioli, taglierini with leeks and artichokes, baked striped bass, osso buco, veal over salad with white-wine sauce, and lemon torte.
This restaurant will transcend you back to the old country with the warmth of the people and the care in the kitchen. Though the menu is small, there are always a list of specials. The wine list is small but has a great selection of Chianti or the Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
